Welcome to the Neighborhood

i always tell skyler that "a happy wife, a happy life" so....after a lot of walk throughs, hundreds of hours on the internet, and many saturdays driving in the car...WE BOUGHT A HOUSE! we were so excited to find this little gem in saratoga springs. it was perfect! just enough room, beautiful views, and an amazing neighborhood! i am so grateful that i have a hubby that can provide us with our very first home. although i am still working and have a lot to do inside (and out,  but don't worry the grass goes in this weekend) i am so in love with our little home.
don't mind our weeds they will be gone shortly!

We have been in our little home just about 5 months now and got a welcoming gift that i really didn't appreciate. at about 10:30am i was sitting at my desk at work and look out the window and turned to my coworker and said "is that a cloud" we proceeded to a different window and saw the huge "cloud" which was a huge cloud of smoke coming from our side of the lake. i hurry to my desk to call sky. when i called he didn't answer..twice! so of course, being the worrier that i am, im freaking out at work trying to get information to see if the fire was close to our house. after about 20 minutes he finally calls me back and i ask if he can see the fire. he says "ya im at the top of the neighborhood watching it right now, its about 400 yards from our neighborhood and they are going to evacuate us". great. so i grab my stuff and rush out of work and drive home as fast as i can. only it wasn't very fast. as im driving to the house there are ambulances, fire trucks, and police everywhere. neighborhoods were blocked off and people are rushing out as fast as they can. i get to our house and it looks as if it was going to go up in smoke. i rush in and skyler seemed pretty calm, apparently we haven't officially been evacuated yet. we turn on the news and check ksl to get updates on what is happening. after a few minutes we get in the car and drive up the hill to the top of the neighborhood where most of our neighbors are up taking pictures and videos of the fire. it is literally within a few hundred yards from us. i haven't seen anything like it before. after about 30 minutes we all turn and see the police and ambulances yelling at us to get off the mountain, go home, and evacuate right away. so we jump in the car and go home. so this is a feeling that i have never had before.. i looked in my house and didn't even know where to begin. the sentimental side of me wanted all my crafts ive made and pictures on the wall. then i ran upstairs packed a bag, actually two just in case, of clothes, my pillow, favorite blanket and threw it in the car. then went downstairs grabbed skylers baby books and mission book, a scrapbook my mom made and all our documents. we put the dogs stuff in the truck and we were out of there. as i pulled out of my driveway and looked at my house burst into tears. i had such a mix of emotions it was nothing i have ever felt before. it may sound dumb because it is just a house but thats OUR house! we finally made it here and we are starting our life here and now it may all be taken away from me!

here are a few pics..

now as much as i complained, cried, and stressed about our little home i was also so grateful and relieved every time i checked ksl and saw that no houses had been affected. i was even happier when i heard we could finally go home saturday night!

Our Christmas Present

I know that christmas was awhile ago and it is now summer time, but I can't help but to post what we got for christmas last year... and his name is BEAR. Bear is a chocolate lab and is now about 7 months old. I have to be honest, i really didn't want a dog AT ALL . when we got him we were in our little apartment and weren't even suppose to have a pet, so yes we broke the rules and hid this little thing for a month and a half, but he didn't stay little for long. As you can see he has quickly grown but we love this guy so much. Even though Sky bought him as his own christmas present and brought it as a surprise for me, i'm so happy that he is now a part of our family :)

he clearly doesn't fit in the front seat anymore

We Finally Made It!

Yes, it is true..this little family finally made a blog! Hopefully I will be able to stay on top of it since i know that everyone wants to know everything about our lives ;)

 we did it!

so he can remember our anniversary

I can't believe that it has almost been 2 years since we were married. We have been through so much these last two years, and through it all i am still so love with funny, sarcastic, outgoing, lovable man. So glad that i get to be with him for eternity!
